Lifestyle & Wellness Blog

  • Okay, so you know how LA has Erewhon—the grocery store that’s more like a lifestyle destination than a place to grab bananas? Yeah, well New York has its own version now: Happier Grocery. And let me tell you, it is giving major Erewhon energy.

Tucked right on the border of SoHo and Chinatown, Happier Grocery is the kind of spot you just have to check out—whether you’re a local or just visiting the city. Honestly, even if you’re not planning to buy anything, the vibes alone are worth it. Think: clean aesthetics, beautifully curated shelves, and a total quiet luxury moment. I swear, something about a bougie supermarket just makes me feel like I’ve got my life together (or at least like I’m trying to).

A lot of the products are similar to what you’d find at Whole Foods—wellness shots, niche snacks, clean-label everything—but their in-house brand is really where they shine. Minimal packaging, dreamy colors, and that elevated “I-do-pilates-and-journal” energy.

They’ve also got produce, groceries, a hot bar (which I didn’t try this time—wasn’t hungry, maybe next time), and a smoothie bar! It was still cold out when I went, and my friend and I had already grabbed matchas, so we skipped the smoothies. But once it warms up? Oh, I’m definitely going back for one. Prices are pretty much what you’d expect in NYC—think Juice Press, Earth Bar, etc.

Honestly, even if you’re just in the mood to wander, Happier Grocery is such a cute spot to browse. It kind of feels like manifesting your future life, you know? That clean girl, health-conscious, effortlessly chic vibe. A little vision board moment in real life.

Highly recommend stopping by—especially if you, like me, love a beautiful grocery store experience.

  • How do you change your life? That’s a big question—one I used to ask myself all the time when I felt stuck. But I get it sometimes you don’t even care to and you keep yourself in the cycle. The truth is, change doesn’t happen overnight. It starts with small, consistent actions that reflect who you want to become. It takes a lot of work.

One of the smallest yet most powerful habits I’ve picked up is listening to positive affirmations. Sounds simple, right? But the impact has been huge.

Rewiring the Brain: The Science Behind It

Here’s the fascinating part—there’s real neuroscience behind how positive affirmations can change your mindset and, in turn, your reality. Our brains are incredibly adaptable thanks to something called neuroplasticity. That means the brain can literally rewire itself based on repeated thoughts, behaviors, and experiences. So, when you consistently feed your mind with positive affirmations, you’re strengthening new neural pathways that support self-belief, gratitude, and abundance.

And it’s not just woo-woo—this is how manifestation actually works. The thoughts you hold and repeat begin to shape your perception, your choices, and eventually, your external reality. When you think better, you live better.

Timing Is Everything: Brainwave States Matter

Here’s something else I’ve learned: the timing of affirmations matters. The best times to practice them are right when you wake up or just before bed. Why? Because during these moments, your brain is in what’s called the alpha or theta brainwave state. These are relaxed, receptive states where your subconscious mind is more open to suggestion. It’s like planting seeds in fresh, fertile soil.

But if your mornings are hectic (been there!), try weaving affirmations into your routine—say them while doing your skincare, brushing your teeth, or sipping your morning coffee. Trust me, even that small window can shift your mindset.

    Small Practice, Big Shift

Personally, I’ve seen real changes. I’ve become more present and more grateful. Affirmations helped me start noticing the tiny wins I used to overlook—like catching the train right as I arrive on the platform. Little things like that now feel like the universe is working with me, not against me.

That shift in perspective? It’s everything. Gratitude really is the key.

From Darkness to Light: My Journey

A few years ago, I was in a very different place—mentally, physically, emotionally. I was struggling with insomnia, had completely lost interest in fashion (something I used to love), didn’t want to go out, didn’t want to see friends… I was just existing. I didn’t love life, and honestly, it showed. I was deep in depression.

But little by little, I began showing up for myself. I started doing the work. No, it wasn’t perfect, and no, I didn’t feel amazing every day. But I stayed consistent. That’s the key. Consistency builds trust with yourself. It rewires your brain and reprograms your habits.

So if you’re reading this and you feel stuck—know this: you don’t have to overhaul your life overnight. Start small, but think big. If you can dream it, it’s already within you.

Positive affirmations were my first step. Maybe they can be yours too.

Keep going. You’ve got this. 💛

The Power of Fasting: A Journey of Renewal for Mind, Body, and Spirit

Fasting has been around for thousands of years, woven into the fabric of human history through various cultures, religions, and traditions. It’s more than just going without food—it’s a practice of discipline, self-discovery, and renewal. From ancient civilizations to modern wellness trends, people have fasted for spiritual enlightenment, ethical reasons, and, more recently, for its incredible health benefits.

    The Spiritual Significance of Fasting

Many religions and spiritual traditions see fasting as a way to cleanse the soul and grow closer to the divine. In Islam, Ramadan is a sacred month of fasting, reflection, and prayer. In Christianity, fasting is a form of self-discipline and a way to seek God’s guidance. Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism also incorporate fasting as a path to purification and deeper connection to the universe. The idea is simple: by removing worldly distractions—like food—we make space for something greater.

    The Science-Backed Health Benefits

Beyond its spiritual aspects, fasting has some powerful health benefits backed by science:

    • Cell Regeneration & Longevity: Fasting triggers a process called autophagy, where your body clears out damaged cells and generates new ones, essentially “recycling” itself to stay healthy and youthful. This can slow aging and reduce the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s and cancer.
    • Improved Metabolism & Weight Loss: By giving your digestive system a break, fasting helps regulate blood sugar, improve insulin sensitivity, and support weight loss. It also encourages fat burning while preserving muscle mass.
    • Reduced Inflammation: Studies show that fasting can lower inflammation, which is linked to chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis.
    • Mental Clarity & Focus: Many people report feeling more alert and focused while fasting. This is because fasting boosts brain function by increasing the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which helps with learning and memory.

    Different Types of Fasting

Fasting isn’t one-size-fits-all—there are various methods, each with its own benefits:

    • Intermittent Fasting (IF): One of the most popular forms, IF involves cycling between eating and fasting windows. Common approaches include the 16/8 method (fast for 16 hours, eat within an 8-hour window) and the 5:2 method (eat normally for five days, drastically reduce calories for two).
    • Water Fasting: This involves consuming only water for a set period, typically 24 hours or more. It’s intense but powerful for detox and deep healing.
    • Dry Fasting: No food or water for a specific period—believed to have even stronger detox benefits but should be approached cautiously.
    • Prolonged Fasting: Lasting 24 hours or more, this is often used for deeper cellular repair and healing.
    • Religious Fasting: Practiced in various traditions, this form of fasting often combines spiritual reflection with dietary restrictions.

Fasting isn’t just about skipping meals—it’s about resetting, healing, and growing. Whether you’re looking to improve your health, strengthen your discipline, or find spiritual clarity, fasting can be a transformative journey. It’s a reminder that sometimes, less truly is more.

As we close out the last day of Ramadan, I hope that whether you fasted or not, you feel more connected—to yourself, to the universe, and to God. May all your manifestations come to life, and may your heart be open to the blessings coming your way. And remember, today’s solar eclipse in Aries is a powerful moment to release, trust, and surrender. Let go of what no longer serves you and allow the universe to guide you. Let go, let God, and embrace the magic of new beginnings.

Wishing you love, light, and abundance on your journey. 🌙✨

  • I usually don’t buy matcha when I’m out because, honestly, I think I make a pretty great matcha at home. I’ve invested in a proper matcha kit, which includes a ceramic matcha bowl, a bamboo whisk, a ceramic whisk holder, a bamboo scoop, a stainless-steel sifter, and a scoop holder—basically, everything I need for the perfect cup.

I always go for ceremonial-grade matcha powder, and right now, I’m testing out different brands. So far, I’m really enjoying Matchaful, Jade Leaf, and Aiya, but I’m still open to exploring more options.

The other day, while walking around the Upper West Side on my lunch break with a coworker, we spotted the new Strawberry Shortcake Matcha at Blank Street. Naturally, I had to try it. The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and I was in the mood for a little pick-me-up.

I ordered mine with almond milk, and let me tell you—it did not disappoint! I’m giving this a solid 9 out of 10. Blank Street uses ceremonial-grade matcha, which is a huge plus, and the drink had just the right amount of sweetness to energize me without being overwhelming. It’s supposed to be a seasonal drink for spring and summer, but honestly, I really hope they make it a permanent menu item. It’s just that good.

I can totally see this becoming my go-to on busy days when I don’t have time to make my own matcha at home. Or, if I just want a cute drink to carry around as an accessory, this will be it. The color is absolutely stunning. Big fan—highly recommend!

  • A friend recently gifted me some beauty gummies, and I couldn’t be more excited. As much as I love my supplements, swallowing multiple pills can sometimes feel like a chore. These little gummies, however, feel like a treat — they taste great, and the best part is, you don’t need to feel guilty about enjoying them!

I’ve been trying Imarais Beauty’s Balance supplements, designed specifically for women. These gummies aim to balance hormones, alleviate PMS symptoms, and address mood swings that can affect your skin.

Another one I’ve been loving is Embody’s The Retinol Gummy. This promises to leave your skin looking more radiant, even, and healthy. I have to admit, the flavor is absolutely delicious! Each gummy contains retinyl acetate, an ester of retinol that your body converts into retinoic acid. It’s also packed with brightening vitamin C and biotin to boost cellular health and support immune function.

It’s only been three weeks, so maybe it’s a placebo effect, but I’m already noticing smoother skin. Unlike topical retinol treatments that can leave your skin dry, I haven’t experienced any dryness at all. That said, I think I’ll need to give it more time to see the full effects before giving my final verdict on these skincare supplements.
